MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
Mental Health Counseling through The Hub at Sid Jacobson JCC will be provided through Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services. When an individual completes their intake with The Hub, if deemed at that time that individual counseling services are wanted, an Intake Coordinator will send a referral to Central Nassau. An individual therapist will reach out to the individual and start virtual counseling sessions. The process from start to finish for the individual from their intake with The Hub to hearing from their assigned Mental Health Counselor is approximately one week or less.
It is of the belief that positive mental health allows people to realize their full potential, cope with the stresses of life, work productively, and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Ways to maintain positive mental health includes, but are not limited to connecting with others, getting physically active, and staying positive. The Long Island Hub is going to provide physical wellness activities such as yoga, tai chi, and meditation to its participants, as well as mental wellness activities such as gratitude journaling, book club, and guided meditation to name a few.
