VERVE 55+ LIVING

Welcome to VERVE, the 55+ community for fun, spirited, and active adults! As part of the VERVE community, you’ll connect to people who live life to the fullest.

Whether you’re still working, semi-retired, or fully retired, there are lots of ways to get involved. Meet new friends on a hiking trail or a pickleball court. Celebrate together at a holiday dinner or over a glass of wine at a local tasting. Enjoy cultural events with friends. Make good things happen as a volunteer. VERVE is happening everywhere — in cafes and coffee houses, at libraries and theaters — and at SJJCC. Be a part of the momentum — feel the energy of VERVE in your neighborhood today.

SPECIAL EVENTS

STEREOPHONIC ON BROADWAY
See the brand-new play that The New York Times and The Washington Post have called the best of the year! Stereophonic follows an up-and-coming rock band on the cusp of stardom as they record their new album. The pressure felt by all the members can either spark their breakthrough or a breakup. The show features original music from Will Butler of the Grammy nominated rock band Arcade Fire. Transportation will be provided to and from the JCC. Please note, the theatre does not have a handicap restroom and refunds will not be given.

BOOK CLUB
Share your thoughts on today’s best-selling novels, moderated by Nicole Yablans, an English teacher and library consultant. May’s selection is The Postcard by Anne Berest, an unforgettable story about a Jewish family devastated by the Holocaust who in 2003, receives an anonymous postcard with names on it of relatives who died at Auschwitz. Determined to discover who sent it, they set off on a journey that helps them uncover their family’s history. The Postcard was a best book of the year selection in 2023 by Time Magazine, Forward Magazine, and The New Yorker.

WALKING CLUB
Lace up your sneakers and join us as we walk the grounds of the Nassau County Museum of Art, right across the street from SJJCC! Indoor strolls will take place when weather is inclement. Please park in the museum’s main parking lot.
