RANDIE WALDBAUM MALINSKY
CENTER FOR ISRAEL
The Randie Waldbaum Malinsky Center for Israel (RCFI) was created with the mission to provide opportunities for local communities throughout Long Island and Queens to develop and celebrate their connection to Israel through innovative and creative programming, and to cultivate partnerships with synagogues, schools, and other JCCs. Fundamentally engrained at the very core of RCFI is the importance of promoting awareness, engagement, and education of Israeli history, culture, and society. Equally as important is building a strong foundation between American Jews and the Israeli-American community.
Serving as a living bridge, RCFI is honored to partner with The Jewish Agency as we work together to bring Israeli emissaries, Shlichim, Israel education and engagement professionals, and Shinshinim, Israeli High School graduates who defer their army service for a year to serve as ambassadors of Israel to our community. Touching the lives of nearly 10,000 children and teens since the Center’s inception, RCFI is the driving force behind Israelfest, bringing thousands together for Long Island’s largest celebration of Israel.
ISRAELFEST IS POSTPONED
High winds in addition to potential flooding result in safety issues. Our partners and security consultants concur that Israelfest should be postponed.
We are sad that we cannot celebrate Israel, especially when it is under attack as it is today. We will find a new time to rally, to regroup and to celebrate Israel for all its accomplishments, so please stay tuned.
We thank all of our sponsors, partners, vendors, and the wider community for the support received in our celebration of Israel’s 71st birthday.
Israelfest, now in its fifth year, is a Yom HaAtzmaut community celebration of Israel’s birthday.
The largest celebration of Israel on Long Island, the event brings together thousands of attendees is a joint venture between Sid Jacobson JCC and UJA–Federation of New York with more than 30 partner agencies including synagogues, Jewish educational institutions, JCC’s, Jewish youth organizations, media partners and vendors.
This year’s event will feature live Israeli music from the band TLV and Jewish choirs, a variety of activities for all ages, food from vendors 16 Handles, Ben Deli, Colbeh, and Green Olive, rides for children, an Israeli Market Shuk and dancing. Admission, parking, and rides are free.
Israelfest takes place rain or shine, the entire event is tented to protect from inclement weather.
