Jonah Sanderson

Coordinator of Jewish Life

Chaplain Jonah Sanderson is thrilled to be SJJCC’s Coordinator of Jewish Life! Jonah is originally from Los Angeles, CA, and has spent time in both Israel and North Carolina where he was the first student chaplain in Gastonia Jewish and differently abled. He has his BS from Penn Foster Career College in Criminal Justice and his MA in Jewish Studies and Chaplaincy from the Academy for Jewish Religion California. He is a member of the National Association of Jewish Chaplains. A leader in the differently abled community, Jonah was one of the first chaplaincy students with a Non-Verbal learning disability to graduate a Jewish seminary in North America. A strong believer in mental wellness, he created his own volunteer-based suicide prevention program that reached 10,000 people across the country in three years! His motto is that Judaism should be used as a tool to help communities thrive.
