We all need help sometimes. To support our community, Sid Jacobson JCC has joined together with partner synagogues from Long Island’s North Shore to form Partners in Caring (PIC). PIC provides counseling, support groups and a Jewish perspective for those tough times in our lives.

Kenneth Ginsburg, Letting Go with Love and Confidence, Raising Responsible, Resilient, Self-Sufficient Teens in the 21st Century
Dr. Ginsburg offers practical advice on everyday challenging decisions. This discussion will help parents manage emotions about letting go, reduce conflict around the whens, minimize anxiety over the hows, gain confidence to make the right decisions and understand that nurturing independence is an act of love. Dr. Ginsburg is an Adolescent Medicine specialist. In collaboration with Partners In Caring (PIC).

SUPPORT GROUPS

Groups are small, intimate, age and lifestage appropriate and facilitated by caring, experienced, professional social workers. A brief telephone intake is required for registration. For more information, contact Audrey Bernstein,

A small, intimate support group for those who have lost a partner and are in the grieving process.Next Step Bereavement

An intimate support group for those experiencing the challenges and changes that can come with divorce and separation.

Sandwich Generation Caregiver
Explore the many stresses that one encounters when juggling the dual responsibilities of caring for your family and aging parents.


Caregiver Support Group
Weekly support group for those who are feeling overwhelmed and over-extended by the demands of caring for family, career, parents and loved ones.


Strength to Strength: Cancer Wellness - FREE Cancer Wellness Program for Adults
Physical fitness and discussion geared to the special needs of individuals recovering from cancer treatment or actively engaged in a treatment regimen. Led by a professional social worker and certified cancer exercise specialist (CES). Caregivers are welcome too. Physician's clearance and intake with social worker required prior to beginning program. Funded in part by the Beth C. Tortolani Foundation and Manhasset Women's Coalition Against Breast Cancer.

Yoga for Cancer Survivors
This is a unique combination of group exercise classes and supportive counseling services geared to the needs of people recovering from or actively engaged in cancer treatment and their caregivers. All participants much receive their physicians consent prior to starting this program.

Partners In Caring (PIC) is funded by a generous grant from UJA-Federation of New York and by partner synagogues. Over 7,000 families in the community belong to the JCC or a PIC partner synagogue. Our current partner synagogues include:

PIC is part of your synagogue, including onsite services: student/teacher workshops, parenting classes, staff training, clergy and professional support, board and committee development, and more. Wherever there is a need to create a more caring community.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING SERVICES

We offer professional, confidential short-term counseling for individuals, youth, teens, adults, seniors and families.
Fee FREE intake,
$65 per session thereafter / members* FREE intake and complimentary follow-up session, $25 per session thereafter

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES
 

We offer information and make referrals to trusted local social service organizations that can provide further support on issues including: career guidance and support services**; children with special needs***; domestic violence, financial and legal matters**; gambling; GLBT needs; geriatric care; health issues; housing, assisted living, nursing home and hospice; substance abuse (alcohol, tobacco, drugs) and bullying.

 

*For all PIC programs and services, the fee for “members” includes JCC members and those individuals and families who are members of one of our partner synagogues.
