Our Facilities

At our Gershwind/Jacobson Health & Wellness Center, the rewards of better physical, mental and spiritual health begin the moment you walk through the doors. As you make your way through our 36,000 square feet of state-of-the-art fitness equipment and recreational space, our friendly, experienced and professional staff are waiting to greet you and your family. With an array of full service group exercise studios, strength and conditioning rooms, cardiovascular area, heated pools, spin room, indoor track and basketball courts, you’ll have plenty of options for your personal fitness. After the workout is over, make sure to enjoy our sauna, steam and whirlpool! Minimum age to use the center is 13 years old. Those 13-15 must complete a JFit Jr. (Teen Fitness Certification Course) prior to using the fitness center.

JFIT

JFIT PLUS
Ages: 16+ years
Members receive a complimentary JFit Plus which combines a 30-minute personal assessment (gauging your present health + fitness levels, lifestyle, goals, medical history) and a 30-minute orientation to familiarize you with the equipment.

JFIT JR. TEEN FITNESS CERTIFICATION
Ages: 13–15 years
This two-part certification course is designed to ensure that all teen members are working out safely and effectively. Required in order to use the fitness center.

BOXING TRAINING
Get fighter fit without being hit! Learn boxing basics, improve body composition, gain muscle and lower stress. Limited hours of availability.

AQUATICS FITNESS TRAINING
Improve your cardiovascular endurance, rehabilitate a chronic source of pain or cross train for athletic events with our in-pool resistance and cardiovascular training. 50-minute sessions.

PILATES
Ages: 13+ years
Reform your body with this refreshing mind/body workout proven to create a strong core, increase flexibility, improve posture and athletic ability. All sessions are 55 minutes long.

PERSONAL TRAINING FOR KIDS 
Ages: 8-12 years
Safe training geared to the development of young bodies for generalized conditioning and sports specific skills. Workout focus on functional fitness training includes calisthenics and cardio. See personal training rates for 13-16 year olds.

BASEBALL TRAINING
Ages: 17+ years
Swing away in our program focused on improving an athlete’s on-field performance through strength, conditioning, stabilization and flexibility exercises. Learnt he fundamentals of offense and defense through functional training exercises and explosive plyometric movements to build power, balance and coordination. Please see Personal Training Rates.

GOLF
Ages: 17+ years
Sink a hole like a pro in our special program that utilizes TRX, resistance band and medicine ball exercises to enhance balance, focus and power on the golf course.

Our newly-certified Cancer Exercise Specialists design and administer individualized fitness assessments and exercise programs to ensure participants attain a quality of life that may have seemed out of reach. Only private 1-on-1 pricing applicable.


TRIATHLON CLUB

OVERVIEW
Looking to improve your fitness level? Competing in your first triathlon? Increase or racing distance or improve your time? This results-driven training program offers individual and group coaching to both newcomers and veterans.

Supportive coaches and teammates will make your journey fun and unique. In order to join, you will need to meet the following requirements:
• Run/walk 1 mile
• Swim 250 yards in the pool
• Ride a traditional bike for 20 minutes with the ability to handle starting, stopping and navigating through roads

OUR TRAINING SESSIONS
This schedule includes triathlon-specific training sessions. You will be asked to complete workouts on your own if you can not train with the team, and the coaches will provide these to you.

For your benefit, we suggest implementing spin, strength training, yoga and group exercise classes to your routine. You should plan on training 5-6/week.

GEAR
You’ll need to start with: running shoes, spin shoes, bathing cap, fins and googles. Additional items will be needed as you progress, including a wetsuit, outdoor bike, helmet and bike gloves.

BARRACUDA BIKE CLUB

Learn new techniques for road biking, explore new routes and make new friends! Pre-season indoor workshops include how to change a flat and simple bike maintenance. JCC bike jersey included. Rides will be held this spring, weather permitting, on Sunday mornings.

FTP TESTING – FREE TO MEMBERS

What is FTP?
FTP (functional Threshold Power) is a measure of fitness that represents the power (measured in watts).  It is the single best metric used to plan each workout to keep your fitness level growing. This test is a must for riders seeking performance gain and those that want to work in a specific training zone.

Why Should I Take The Test?
Riding at your FTP pushes you to the limit where pushing beyond that point will drastically limit the duration of your ride.

Our new Coach by Color system uses your FTP number to keep you within your correct training zones and allows you to increase your fitness level on an even playing field with all class participants. You will be working as hard as you can at your own individual level.

Before The Test…
Please come prepared to give your best effort.  This should be the first fitness challenge of your day.  We strongly recommend that you eat 2-3 hours before the test, and make sure you are properly rested and hydrated!

The test should be repeated every 3 months to measure improvements in your  fitness level!

How Long Will This Take?
Our FTP tests are a 5-minute maximum push after a 20-minute controlled warm-up.
