BARRACUDAS SWIM TEAM
All persons entering SJJCC who are over the eligible age of 12 are required to be fully vaccinated. This includes all swim team parents that are, in the building, doing drop off, or pick up.
Any Barracudas Swim Team member who turns 12 years of age during the season, will have 45 days from their birthday to get vaccinated in order to continue competing.
The following update is subject to change, as the SJJCC’s COVID safety protocols may be adjusted to comply with the Nassau County Department of Health recommendations
BARRACUDAS SWIM TEAM
Ages: 6–16 years
This is a competitive swim team that values hard work, integrity, sportsmanship, and team work. This team is perfect for swimmers who enjoy healthy and fun competition, and want to reach new personal goals. The Barracudas are broken up into three groups: Novice, Age, and Junior/Senior. The novice group is generally a fit for our younger beginner swimmers, the age group makes up most of the team, and the Junior/Senior group is for our older, and/or more advanced swimmers. Group assignments and practice times will be determined based on tryout performance.
We are happy to announce that the Barracudas Swim Team is once again open to active SJJCC members, and nonmembers. The season will run from September (tryouts)-April.
Ages: 6-10 years
The novice group is ideal for swimmers who want the swim team structure and skill, but aren’t quite ready for the intensity of the full swim team season. Novices will not be attending our stroke clinics, but may be permitted to compete in meets upon a recommendation from the head coach.
Ages: 14-18 years
The varsity group is specifically for swimmers that are on their high school swim team, and will be missing a large part of the season due to school swim team obligations. This is a great way to improve performance, and to continue training in between seasons and during the off-season.
Practice times will be Mondays-Thursdays, 4:15-7:15pm.
- Novice: 4:15-5pm
- Age: 5:05-6:05pm
- Junior/Senior: 6:10-7:15pm
Practices are closed to everyone but those on the swim team. Although practices are not mandatory, we do encourage all swimmers to attend every practice.
*Stroke clinics will be on Saturdays (specific dates TBA), from 1-3pm, and will also be “closed” (swimmers and coaches only).
*Meets will be on Sundays, and the dates and structure are TBA.
*Novices will not be attending the stroke clinics, and participation in meets is at the discretion of the head coach.
