Swim Teams Practice

PRACTICE LEVELS + TIMES

Swimmers will be placed into one of four practice levels based on skill, maturity, and competitive readiness. Practice recommendations are as follows:

  • Junior Barracudas & Bronze: Minimum 2 practices per week
  • Silver & Gold: Minimum 3 practices per week

JUNIOR BARRACUDAS
Monday-Thursday, 4:15-5pm
Requirements:

  • Swim 2 consecutive laps of freestyle unassisted
  • Swim 1 lap of each stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) to the best of their ability

BRONZE
Monday-Thursday, 5-6pm
Requirements:

  • Perform all 4 strokes unassisted
  • Swim 4 laps of freestyle

SILVER
Monday-Thursday, 6-7pm
Sunday, 3:30-4:30pm
Requirements:

  • Swim 2 laps of each stroke
  • Swim 6 laps of freestyle
  • Complete a timed 2-lap freestyle sprint
  • Understand basic swim terminology

GOLD
Monday-Thursday, 7-8pm
Sundays, 4:30-5:30pm
Requirements:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in all strokes for 2 laps
  • Swim 8 laps of freestyle effortlessly
  • Complete a timed 2-lap freestyle sprint
  • Have a strong grasp of swim terminology
PRACTICE GUIDELINES
  • Appropriate swimwear required (no board shorts or two-piece suits)
  • Goggles, towel, and swim cap are mandatory
  • No swimming before practice begins
  • Swimmers must be on deck, ready to swim, at the scheduled start time
  • Good behavior is expected—swimmers are evaluated on respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring
  • Coaches may remove disruptive swimmers from practice or meets
