Camp Kehilla Counselors interact with campers throughout the day to develop social skills and friendships. This position will assist with the growth and care of neurodivergent campers in a fun and nurturing environment.
Essential Duties + Responsibilities:
- Interact with assigned campers throughout the entire day; helping them make friends, try new things, and generally care for their well-being
 
- Participate in camp activities, build relationships with campers, and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child
 
- Support the Camp Director, Division Head, and Group Leader by following established rules and emergency procedures
 
- Lead or assist in adapted camp activities, such as arts & crafts, games, swimming, or nature walks, modifying them to fit the campers’ needs
 
- Communicate with camp leadership on any issues or concerns
 
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings (SCIP, CPR, First Aid, Epipen), and camp orientations
 
- All other duties as assigned
 
 
Qualifications:
- Must be 17+ years of age
 
- Experience working with individuals with special needs preferred, but not required
 
- Exhibit an ability to help children grow in character, experiences, and insights
 
- Ability to guard the health and well-being of campers at all times
 
- Passion for working with children who have developmental disabilities
 
- Capable of sustaining energy for participation in a full day of activities
 
- Demonstrate the following traits in all situations; enthusiastic, responsible, dependable, consistent, levelheaded, flexible, and calm
 
- Proficient in written and oral communication
 
- Flexibility and ability to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
 
- Foster collaboration and effective communication among team members and promote a positive work environment
 
 
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, run, bend, and move actively for extended periods throughout the day during outdoor games, field trips, and physical activities
 
- Frequently required to lift and carry items, such as sports equipment, coolers, activity supplies, or first aid kits (up to 30 pounds)
 
- High level of physical stamina required to work in outdoor environments and actively engage with youth in games, sports, and recreational activities for several hours at a time
 
 
Work Environment:
- Working with children who have developmental disabilities
 
- Majority of the time is spent outdoors in parks, playgrounds, recreational fields, or on walking field trips. Must be able to work under direct sunlight for prolonged periods
 
- Environment includes noise, physical activity, and changing schedules; adaptability and quick decision-making are key
 
- Some activities or planning sessions may take place in community centers, gyms, or classrooms
