Photographer Alan Sloyer to Exhibit at Sid Jacobson JCC Art Gallery

Photographer Dr. Alan Sloyer, will show his “Global Entry: No Passport Required” photography exhibit at Sid Jacobson JCC’s art gallery from December 14 through April 29. Sloyer will be donating all proceeds made from the sale of his photography to the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center’s (NMCWC) “We’ve Got Your Back” after-school program.

Sid Jacobson JCC Rises from Shiva in Remembrance of Tree of Life Victims

East Hills, NY, November 8, 2018

Thursday, November 8 marks the seventh day since the last of the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting was laid to rest. It also marks the final day that the families will be sitting Shiva for their loved ones. To honor the lives of the innocent that were taken on October 27, Sid Jacobson JCC rose from Shiva, concluding the period of mourning by walking around the JCC building eleven times together as a community.

Sid Jacobson JCC Hosts Financial Planning Series to Educate the Sandwich Generation

East Hills, NY, October 23, 2018 

Over the next three months, Sid Jacobson JCC, in partnership with Project S.A.F.E., will host a three-part Financial Planning Series aimed at educating the sandwich generation on how to maintain financial security while balancing the responsibilities of raising children and caring for aging parents. The first session will focus on a 529 College Savings Plan and will take place on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:30pm.

New York Knicks Center Enes Kanter Leads Sold Out Basketball Clinic at Sid Jacobson JCC

East Hills, NY, October 22, 2018

On Saturday, October 13, New York Knicks center Enes Kanter held a basketball clinic for children from ages 8 to 18 years old at the Sid Jacobson JCC Gershwind / Jacobson Health + Wellness Center.  This free clinic officially filled up with registrants in less than two hours and was attended by nearly 100 youth participants.

Sid Jacobson JCC Hosts Successful Stronger Than Cancer 5K

East Hills, NY, October 15, 2018

Sid Jacobson JCC recently hosted its annual “Stronger Than Cancer 5K” on Sunday, October 7. The annual event had a turnout of over 600 participants including runners, walkers, volunteers and vendors. All funds raised will directly benefit the JCC’s Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center (NMCWC) and its programs.
