Swim Classes

SWIM CLASSES

From 6 months to adults, build and strengthen your swimming ability in a safe and fun environment. Our classes range from beginner to intermediate and advanced, all led by our expert swim instructors. All swimmers 5+ years must wear bathing caps.

FALL CHILDREN’S GROUP SWIM CLASSES

Classes will not meet on the following dates:

  • Thursdays: November 24, December 22, and 29
  • Fridays: November 25, December 23, and 30

INFANT SWIM
Ages: 6-18 months
Make the water a comfortable and fun place for your child! Emphasis is placed on body position and blowing bubbles. The class is designed to make each child as well as parents comfortable in the water. There is lots of fun and splashing. Parents/guardians must be in the water with their child for this class and children must wear swim diapers.

TODDLER SWIM
Ages: 18-36 months
It is never too early to learn to swim! Starting at a younger age lays the foundation and makes the pool a fun place. This class is focused on being comfortable in the water. The skills taught are basic floating, kicking, and aquatic safety. Parents/guardians must be in the water with their child for this class and children must wear swim diapers.
12 sessions

PRE-SWIMMER
Ages: 3-5 years
This class is designed to introduce your child to the fundamentals of swimming. We focus on floating, gliding, breath control, and promoting independence and separation. The pre-swimmer class lays the foundation for your child to do an independent swim class. Parents/guardians must be in the water with their child for this class and children must wear swim diapers if they are not toilet trained.

BEGINNER SWIM IV
Ages: 5-10 years
This is our first class without parents in the water. The children in this group class may be inexperienced and fearful, our goals are to build confidence and make the pool a fun environment. We will go over skills such as basic kicks, arm pull, breath control, floats, and water safety skills.

ADVANCED BEGINNER V
Ages: 5-10 years
This class is designed for children who are already comfortable in the water, who already have some swimming ability, and can swim several feet unassisted.  Students will learn skills such as front crawl, back crawl, and rotary breathing as well as increasing the distance in which they can swim.

INTERMEDIATE SWIM VI
Ages: 6-11 years
This class is designed for children who can swim 25 yards (1 pool length) unassisted. A basic knowledge of front crawl and back crawl is needed. Students will learn breathing to the side, breast stroke, and butterfly; as well as building endurance and lap swimming etiquette.

ADVANCE SWIM VII
Ages: 7-12 years
This class is for children who can swim 50 yards (2 laps) non-stop. It is for the more skilled swimmer. The strokes that will be covered are front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, and side stroke. This class is geared at building endurance and fine tuning all strokes and getting a swimmer ready for swim team.

$300 members / $450 nonmembers

*There is a $35 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be given after the third session. The JCC reserves the right to cancel a class due to lack of registration. In such an event, a full refund will be given. In situation of low enrollment, weekday classes may be combined.

If you wish to sign your child up for a class after the start date, pro-rating is available for sessions missed depending upon enrollment. Please contact us for availability and pricing.


MASTERS SWIM
If you are looking to up your workout game, and achieve major strength, speed, and endurance gains in the pool, our new Masters Swim program is for you! This is an adults-only swim workout group, that will be training under the guidance of Coach Jeremy Penny. This is the perfect program for swimmers who are ready to put in the work and reach new personal goals in fitness and health. Advance registration is required. Masters Swim will not meet on Wednesday, October 5 and Wednesday, November 23.

AQUA EXERCISE
Get back in the water with this class that focuses on muscular conditioning and cardio using flotation devices and the natural resistance of the water, for heart health and stamina. Class is open to active members only and advance reservation is required. To register, email fitness@sjjcc.org.
