Licensed Social Worker for the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center

Sid Jacobson JCC is currently seeking a full-time Licensed Social Worker who will be part of an evolving and growing collaborative team that is responsible for providing care and support to cancer survivors in any stage of their diagnosis within the greater community. The social worker will bring compassion to help better the lives of cancer survivors and a desire to learn about this population. The multi-pronged position includes performing intakes, case management, short-term counseling and facilitating discussion groups. In addition, they will keep records and statistics, support the director with administrative tasks, and link the community to the Cancer Wellness Center by developing relationships with high stake providers within the cancer community.

How You’ll Help Us Be Successful:

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Suite, especially excel and be able to multi-task
  • Provide short-term individual counseling
  • Conduct intakes
  • Case Management
  • Facilitate discussion groups
  • Collaborate with different agency departments and lay leaders
  • Spearhead and coordinate the development and implementation of an array of educational programs and initiatives (in community, remote and onsite) through careful planning and scheduling, material preparation, evaluation/reporting and professional delivery
  • Responsible for organizing and conducting presentations, representing the Cancer Wellness Center at local meetings, committees and community outreach programs in person, via telephone and/or email or virtually to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the cancer wellness center to the community
  • Update database reflecting the community resources, doctor’s offices, and cancer organizations.
  • Maintains up-to-date resource registry to be used when assisting clients in need of services within the community.
  • Promote Cancer Wellness Center on social media
  • Assist with various fundraising events, including Stronger Than Cancer 5k
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Licensed Master Social Worker or higher
