We are seeking a seasonal part-time Friday Night Lights Supervisor to work in Teen Services from 7:30 pm-10:30pm, Friday nights. There will be about 100-150 participants between the ages of 10-12 years old. When possible if extended hours are required advance notice will be provided; unfortunately, due to the nature of the role and department there is no guarantee that notice is feasible.
This position is in Nassau County (East Hills), Long Island.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the Friday Night Lights team in designing, delivering and evaluating Friday Night Lights programs to ensure that they meet and exceed the needs and interests of the participants
- Implement best practices in staff recruitment, management and development
- Work with management and marketing team to implement a successful marketing plan to reach goals of participant enrollment
- Supervise operations of the program all of the scheduled Friday Night Light sessions, including administration, participant care, staff supervision, activities, arrival, and departure
- Communicate with participants and families
- Maintain awareness, knowledge and understanding of current social trends, community service, child development, social media, and customer service
- Develop and implement recruiting strategies to attract new staff members to the program
- Function as a leader and role model for youth in the community
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS + ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and train staff members
- Exceptional skill and capacity for engagement and relationship building with diverse constituencies (parents, staff, vendors, etc.)
- Extensive administration and planning skills, including strong computer proficiency
- Ability to develop and implement creative, safe and challenging programs
- Experience working with numerous about of children between the ages of 10 and 12 years old
- Ability to provide professional vision and leadership
- Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
