Director of Youth Services + Assistant Director of Summer Streeters Day Camp

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Director of Youth Services and Assistant Summer Streeters Day Camp is responsible for the oversight of a school-based after-school programs and Summer Streeters Day Camp. They will provide leadership, direction, supervision, and support to our after-school program and Summer Streeters staff.


Youth Services:

  • Oversee youth programs to ensure they meet member and community needs
    • Work closely with the Director of Early Childhood, Membership Director, and Teen Supervisor to develop year-round programs and events for school-age children and their families
  • Manage the daily operations of assigned youth programs and ensure they are in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
    • Coordinate state licensing and communication with state licensor
    • Track and maintain required OCFS trainings for on and off-site staff
  • Maintain records of all participants and activities including attendance sheets and monthly rosters for each age group, and bus sites
  • Supervise all aspects of after-school programming
    • Work closely with the Associate Executive Director to plan and staff after school programs
    • Supervise after-school sites including attendance, incidences, reporting, and assessments
  • Develop partnerships and maintain communication with school leadership and staff
  • Manage enrollment in the after-school programs and camp
    • Assist members with financial aid process
    • Provide tours to prospective families
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop team members to conduct programs and services
    • In conjunction with direct reports plan and promote programs such as youth sport leagues, tournaments, and community events
    • Monitor and evaluate performance
  • Develop and implement youth programs, activities, and events and prepare revenue and expense projections
    • Developing curriculum for on-site vacation programs
    • Create and present department budget
    • Assist with orders, purchases and disbursements of materials and information to support and enrich youth program activities
  • Communicate and interpret youth programs, objectives, policies, and operating procedures to staff and members
    • Build a social media presence to promote youth programs by partnering with the Associate Executive Director and Marketing
  • Build strong relationships with parents and members to develop quality programs that are consistent with the agency’s mission and values
  • In partnership with the Associate Executive Director, identify and develop new partnerships outside the agency that will bring value to the Youth Department
  • Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, manage special initiatives and projects
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department
    • Collect and provide time card information
    • Collect off-site vendor bills and staff check request forms
    • Assist during busy periods – registration changes, payment plans, payment follow-up
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Summer Streeters:

  • Partner with the Director of Summer Streeters on the oversight of all aspects of Summer Streeters, including, but not limited to:
    • Year-Round Responsibilities:
      • Management of CampMinder database, including enrollment, payment, and form collection
      • Communication with Bookkeeping Department to ensure duplication of enrollment and payment information is entered correctly in Quattro (or similar program)
      • Development, oversight and collection of forms for campers and staff members
      • Communication with Human Resources and Bookkeeping for the management of all staff paperwork and payroll
      • Manage paperwork for Nassau County Department of Health and American Camp Association
  • Summer responsibilities include, but not limited to:
    • Staff attendance
    • Camper enrollment and attendance
    • Management of lunch program, including communication with vendors
    • Customer and staff communication via email, phone, Remind App
    • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Ability to connect with children and parents of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to assess and strategize appropriate care for children based on the situation and to work with their families
  • Ability to work collaboratively, with colleagues, direct reports and supervisors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly-organized with attention to detail and follow-through, and the ability to multi-task
  • Administrative and planning experience
  • Strong computer proficiency and experience using social media to market programs
  • Knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions and culture, and the ability to integrate this into staff training and an age-appropriate after-school curriculum
