Join the JCC's Green Team
Facilitating the JCC's Green Initiative, the Ruth & Saul Weinberger Center for Jewish Life & Learning received one of 20 Greening Fellowships awarded by the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center generously funded by the UJA Federation's Commission on Jewish Identity and Renewal. We are striving to set an example for environmental stewardship by placing the environment high on our agenda and reducing our carbon footprint with the goal of generating a meaningful Jewish response to global climate change.

SEYMOUR RUDORDER WORKSHOPS FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN

Music and movement with a Shabbat spin! Songs, stories and hands-on activities for the very youngest and a caregiver related to the themes of Shabbat.

Family Time in the Sukkah
All ages welcome
Bring your own dinner or place an order with the JCC Gezunter café for your meal at the JCC Nussbaum Family Sukkah. Shake the lulav and etrog, enjoy the festive music and celebrate with other families. Drinks and dessert provided.

Adopt-a-Survivor
Connect with local Holocaust survivors to hear their stories in order to "never forget" and share what you learn through art, writing and/or music. Dates and times for meetings between the teens and survivors are set at the first meeting. Program begins in November.

Hebrew Reading Crash Course

Learn to read Hebrew in five lessons! Beginner and advanced students welcome. The modern Ulpan approach helps you understand and feel at ease with Jewish customs, songs and prayers.

Learn conversational Hebrew quickly and easily in a proven format. Students are immersed in writing, oral comprehension and conversation with our experienced instructor.

Yiddish
Now you are given the opportunity to learn from scratch or relearn the beloved language of people from your past. A small Yiddish/English dictionary and The Complete Guide to Learning Yiddish are recommended for all sections.

Survivor Relatives
The only program of its kind, Survivor Relatives recognizes the need for second and third generation survivors to meet and learn more about their families and themselves. This unique program is offered at the JCC by the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County.

For non-Jewish mothers raising their children in a Jewishly connected household
The Grandparents Circle
For Jewish grandparents whose adult children have intermarried or whose grandchildren are not being raised in a Jewish household

2010 Herbert Tarr North Shore Institute for Adult Jewish Education
The Herbert Tarr North Shore Institute for Adult Jewish Education presents a diversified selection of classes and lectures on Monday evenings from October through December. Each weekly session consists of classes taught by one of our community Rabbis, followed by a lecture delivered by a noted scholar or personality. Yoga for the Days of Awe
In Yoga for the Days of Awe, we pay close attention to our bodies, minds and breath and turn towards more wholeness, more openness and more love. In yoga (which means union), we seek to become at one with ourselves, uniting heart, mind and body-as we move towards Yom Kippur, the Day of At-One-Ment.
