Lemelman Family Pool
Our Natatorium consists of a six-lane, 25-yard lap pool, kiddie pool and whirlpool. Lap lanes are always available in the Lemelman Family Pool. The pool is equipped with a handicapped chair lift. Register for swim classes at the Welcome Desk.
Has the class you wanted already started? In many cases, you can still register and pay a pro-rated fee! Keep an eye out for updated classes, as we often add new programs to accommodate the demand.
Bathing caps are available at the Welcome Desk. All bathers age 5+ must wear a bathing cap. Children under age 10 must be directly supervised by an adult.

Swim Camp
Ages: 8-14
Participants must be able to swim six laps of the pool without stopping. The Swim Camp develops the participants approach to swim training. This is done through stroke analysis and discussions about training, performance and general dietary guidelines.

Come learn to swim! Our program is geared specifically for the high-functioning child
with special needs and provides experienced instructors and a low student-instructor ratio. This program made possible in part through the Harry & Talia Gross Family Fund.

Lifeguard Training
Ages: 15+
If you are able to swim 300 yards continuously, surface dive nine feet and recover a brick, swim 20 yards holding the brick above water and pass a skills and written test, you can become a lifeguard. Upon successful completion, participants acquire Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, CPR, AED and First Aid training. Course is required for all Nassau County Lifeguard Tests. Four classes per session. You must attend all classes in a session. There is one, four-hour, deep water session at Nassau Aquatics Center Pool (given on one of the course dates). Class size limited.

Swim Team
Barracudas in Training (B.I.T.s)
Ages: 6-10
September 2010 through April 2011
Interested in joining the Swim Team but not ready for the commitment or competition required? A skills intensive program which focuses on strokes, turns, starts and endurance. Must be able to swim one lap (25 yards) with proper form in crawl and breast stroke. Class meets twice a week plus Sundays. Must pick Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday practice time. Fee includes swim team bathing suit, sweat shirt, t-shirt and bathing cap.

Barracudas Swim Team

Interested in swimming competitively? All swimmers must compete at the Metro League swim meets against other area JCCs. Team is divided into groups, based on age and ability.
Season: September, 2010April, 2011
Begins Monday, October 4
Tryouts are mandatory for all swimmers. (Note: Team size is limited. Members receive priority as long as they try out on member tryout dates).
Novice (Ages: 6-10) is for the beginner swimmer. Skills intensive. Group meets Monday-Thursday, 6:15-7:00pm and Sunday (if no meets) 2:30-3:30pm. Two practices a week are recommended. Sunday practice is strongly encouraged.
Age Group (8-12) is for swimmers whose abilities need refinement. A transition group from the novice to junior group. Time is divided equally between skills development and learning to train. Group meets Monday-Thursday, 6:45-7:45pm and Sunday (if no meets), 2:30-3:30pm. Three practices a week are recommended. Sunday practice strongly encouraged.
Junior Group (Ages: 9-12) is for the more advanced younger swimmer with the requisite skills for this training intensive workout. Group occasionally works with senior group. Group meets Monday-Thursday, 7:00-8:30pm and on Sunday (if no meets) from 3:30-5:00pm. Four practices a week are recommended; Sunday practice strongly encouraged.
Senior Group (Ages: 10-17) is for the serious swimmer. This group swims Monday- Thursday, 7:00-8:30pm and Sunday (if no meets), 3:30-5:00pm.
